To reach Braddon Cottages from the M5, take the A30 dual
carriageway at junction 31, signposted Okehampton, Bodmin, to Stowford
interchange exit (34 miles). Turn right to Roadford Lake. Cross the dam.
After 4 miles
turn left at T junction (Ivyhouse Cross). Then
immediately right (Reservoir Cross). Cross stone bridge at Ashmill,
bearing right up a steep hill signposted Holsworthy. After two miles
turn right into concrete road signposted Braddon and East Venn. Bear
left at fork. Continue past Braddon Cottage, crossing the cattle
grid marked Braddon to the Byre for your key. |
| The 3 acre spring fed lake is stocked with fish and has two
islands with resident water birds, a peninsula, a jetty, a rowing
boat, garden seats
and picnic table. There is a solidly built all-weather summer house
with a barbecue fireplace. Ideal for bird watching near the lake.
There are
pleasant walks through 100 acres of meadow, along the streams, around
the lake, and in 500 acres of woodland. There is an all-weather tennis
court
(with basketball), a games field with football posts, two swings,
slide, sandpits, a carpeted snooker room with full size table, and
separate children's
room with snooker and table tennis. Tennis racquets supplied and
other games equipment including board games. |
